With this recipe for fresh homemade burger buns, you can enjoy fully homemade burgers whenever you want! The recipe takes less than an hour and a half, from start to finish, making this recipe quick and easy. If you’ve never made your own bread before this is a great recipe to start with! These buns pair really well with our venison burger recipe. We also enjoy these served as large rolls to eat with soups and stews. They also make great sandwich buns for your lunches, Sloppy Joes, pulled pork sandwiches, or whatever else you can eat on a bun!

One Hour Burger Buns Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup warm water
4 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast (2 packets)
3 ½ cups of all purpose flour (plus a little more for hands for shaping)
⅓ cup olive oil (or butter softened)
¼ cup of honey (or just a couple solid squeezes into the bowl)
1 egg
Optional – You can also add sesame or poppy seeds to the top of the buns if desired. After shaping into a roll, dip the top into a shallow bowl of your chosen seeds, or press them gently into the top of the dough before it rises.

Instructions
- Combine warm water and yeast and let it proof for a few minutes.
- Add all ingredients to a large bowl or the bowl of your stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment.
- Knead by hand or with your mixer until the dough forms a cohesive ball, adding more flour as necessary to make it not sticky.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide dough into 12 equal parts and roll into a ball and place on a baking sheet. I like to smoosh the dough ball down to flatten it a little to be easier to eat with a burger. (I usually bake mine on parchment paper, but it is not necessary).
- Cover with a towel and let rise for 60 minutes.
- Towards the end of rise time preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Uncover and bake for 10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown. Let cool before slicing and serving with your favorite burgers.
